Susan obtained her Diploma in Occupational Therapy at Nanyang Polytechnic (Singapore) and is certified Sensory Integration (SI) trained by University of Southern California (USC). She has also completed two special topics with USC namely 1) SI for Individuals on the Autism Spectrum 2) SI in School based Settings.
She has a deep interest in working with children and this was further fuelled by her previous placements in Paediatrics. Her clinical experience has seen her working with children with varied special needs and learning differences, both at clinical and school settings.
She believes children respond best when therapy is fun and with just the right level of challenges to engage them. She uses her innate playfulness to connect with children of different ages, building an important therapeutic relationship. She also believe in supporting children to become confident and independent as they build up their inner resilient.
To meet goals, she feels therapy should take place in client’s natural environment, beyond just clinical settings. As such, she values communication between herself and parents, teacher and other professionals.
