Frequently Asked Questions
How do I know if my child needs occupational therapy? +
If your child struggles with handwriting, has difficulty regulating their emotions, finds it hard to focus or sit still in class, avoids certain textures or sensory experiences, or seems behind peers in motor skills or daily living tasks, an OT assessment can help identify whether support would be beneficial. Executive function challenges, like difficulty with planning, organisation, or task initiation are also common reasons families come to us. Our free 20-minute consultation is a good starting point, no referral needed.
How often are sessions and how long does therapy take? +
Most children attend weekly 60-minute sessions. Every child is different, some make significant progress in a short period, while others benefit from longer-term support. We set clear, measurable goals from the start and review progress regularly, so you always know how your child is developing and what's next.
Can I sit in during my child's session? +
We have an open-door policy, parents are always welcome to stay. For babies and very young children, we ask a parent or caregiver to be present so we can coach you on strategies to use at home in real time. For older children, most parents find their child works best independently, so we invite you to join the last 10 minutes of each session where we walk you through what we worked on and how to support progress at home.
What if my child won't cooperate or gets upset? +
This is very common and completely expected. Building rapport with your child is always our first goal. We may start by following your child's lead and interests to build trust, then gradually introduce targeted activities in a way that feels natural and engaging. If your child loves dinosaurs, we'll find a way to work on handwriting through dinosaurs. Most children settle quickly and start looking forward to sessions within a few visits.
Do you accept Baby Bonus, CDA, or insurance? +
Yes, we are an approved CDA merchant, Singapore citizen families can use their Child Development Account to pay for OT sessions. For insurance, we are happy to provide detailed reports and complete claim forms for your insurer. Reimbursement depends on your individual policy, so we recommend checking with your provider. We also offer 10-session packages starting at $171/session (10% savings) for families planning ongoing therapy.
